Hot Flash of Inspiration - Menopause Policy.
The London-based law firm Linklaters has adopted a new “global menopause policy” as part of its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The new policy includes expanding the firm’s menopause support group, introducing an e-learning module for managers, and generally enhancing support and awareness efforts for those experiencing the midlife change.
“Menopause symptoms can have a detrimental impact on anybody living with them, and their working lives are not exempt from that . . . People should not have to navigate the menopause in silence,” said Jessamy Gallagher, Executive Committee Champion for Age & Life Stage at Linklaters, which has a goal of being “best in class” in terms of providing a culture that supports employee health and wellbeing. Linklaters’ goal is to help retain and support women of all ages into senior roles.
We have not seen these policies with U.S. employers yet but there has been a lot of buzz in the U.K. and on legal blogs and we expect such policies to be more common here soon.*
